About

I am an advisor, developer, and entrepreneur based in Brooklyn, New York. Most recently, from June 2021 to January 2023, I served as the Global Open Source Program Lead at Goldman Sachs.

I have two decades of experience leading marketing, sales, product, operations, and technology initiatives in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations, ranging in size from two-person startups to Fortune 100 corporations. My background is equal parts technology and market strategy. I enjoy working at their intersection point to create great products, platforms, and services that both attract customers and investors. I believe this intersection is where the most interesting work is happening right now.

I help companies, both startups and larger organizations, develop both go-to-market and technology strategies to realize profitable top line revenue growth. I am also retained to help organizations with their fundraising strategy, whether that be non-profits with donors or for-profits seeking venture capital.

I have served organizations across a diversity of industry verticals including financial services, media, technology, telecommunications, media, discrete manufacturing, and education.

The types of services I provide include:

  • Open Source Strategy and Program Design
  • Platform and Ecosystem Strategy
  • Channel and Partner Strategy
  • Product Management
  • Product Marketing
  • Training and Learning Strategy
  • Data Engineering and Management
  • Non-Profit Leadership and Fundraising

Periodically I help found and/or fund startups of particular interest.

I am a passionate advocate for public education. A particular interest is various initiatives to expand software engineering specifically, and STEM more broadly, into public schools both in NYC and nationwide. Organizations I have helped and supported include CSNYC, Code.org, ScriptEd, and TEALS. One of my current projects is serving as the Executive Director of TeachCS (see our launch press release here). I also recently launched with Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams the CodeBrooklyn campaign (see its press release here).

I am active in local civic organizations and politics. I am an elected member of the Community Education Council for District 13 in Brooklyn. I am also a Borough President appointee to Brooklyn Community Board 6 and an elected member of the Kings County Democratic County Committee for the 64th Election District in Park Slope.

I am originally from Kennebunk, Maine. I am married with 3 kids. In my spare time I like to work out at CrossFit South Brooklyn. I have run – slowly – 10 NYC marathons. I love to snowboard with my friends and family.
